Overview Demolition of an 18 MW wood-fired power plant constructed in 1988 located in Northumberland, PA. The project involved the demolition of the 50,000 SF facility which contained 1 boiler unit and a 150 ft. tall stack. Manual, mechanical and explosives demolition techniques were utilized to successfully raze the structures. The stack was felled by attaching a tensioned cable above the center of gravity and torch cutting the base. The precipitator was tripped by isolating and pre-cutting the supports and removing sections of columns with cables. The boiler was grounded in a similar fashion, only explosives were used to displace the columns.
